Name: Industrial
History: Industrial is one of the first styles of
electronic music, and it dates back all the
way to the eighties.
Sound: The sound of industrial is, as the word
indicates, very dark, aggressive and somehow
metalic and dirty. The special thing about
industrial is that they use vocals, witch many of
the other electronic styles dont use. These vocals
are always male vocals, witch sounds like they
have been spoken through a very bad loudspeaker
or walkitalki. The lyric is allways about death,
horror, pain, satan or other dark topics. This
style has alot incommon with rock and heavy, and
the construction of the tracks is allso the same
just with electronic instruments ofcoz.
Instruments: The instruments is analogous made with the
classic synths of the 70 and 80'ties. Sometimes
the instruments are not analogous but bad dirty
8bit sampels of guitars and other thinges.
Beats: The industrial beat is often slow and resembles
the beats you finde in rock. The drum samples
is often allso classic rock drums.

-Cyberpunk: As the word indicates this is Punk
converted into a electronic version. Punk was made
as a kind of musical revolution against the
classic idears of rock. The punk musicans diddent
care about how the music sounded, the worse the
better. They diddent want to work on a track for
months, they wanted to be impulsive and to
provokate people. Not all of these idears is the
same for Cyberpunk. The basic idear in cyberpunk
is to play with sounds, not necessary to
provokate, but to discover new sound combination.
An other very important thing for cyberpunk is
to sample voices from old films and Tv. Through
these samples the musician can communicate and
express the meaning with the song. |
