History: Was a part of the rave cultur in the early 90'ties
but became an independant style later.
Sound: The characteristic thing about breabeat is, as the
word indicates, the beat witch all the time is
broken down and changed. The themes are simple and
are changing all the time like the beats, but that
is not the important thing in breakbeat. Besides
this theres allso used alot of homan voices.
Instruments: Smooth Strings, and funny synth sounds.
Beats: The beats are fast and a mixture between
4OnTheFloor rythmes and sampled rytmes.

Subgenres:
-Jungle: was started by black people from jamaica,
and was the last step away from the 4OnTheFloor
minimalistic techno rythmes. In jungle the beat
is totaly out of controle, there is no rules on
how a beat should be, you can have as many as
you like and break them as often as you want. The
beats is no longer analogous but sampled from old
jazz records and afterwards sequenced in fast
complicated patterns. The beats are accompanied by
slow and sleepy strings and characteristic sinus
bas sounds, human voices or other funny
sounds/instruments. So you could say that there is
2 levels in jungle; the fast one with the beat
and the slow one with the theme.

-Drum&Bass: is infact jungle. The only difference
between them is that drum&bass is made by white
people while jungle is made by black people.
Because of this drum&bass is not that hard an
the spoken voices is not that ruff.

-Intelligent jungle: The word intelligent means
soft when it is used about music, so intelligent
jungle is a soft version of jungle. Therefor
intelligent jungle uses soft breakbeats witch
often are made syntetic. The breaks are
accompanied smooth strings, invisible bass sounds,
and sounds from the nature like waves and birds.

-Hardstep:is an offspring from jungle, and is one
of the hardest subgenres in breakbeat. The
breakbeat is often fast, boosted/dirty and minimal.
The beat is accompanied by wird bas sounds who is
filtered fast up and down, and noisy strings and
wird sounds or noise.

-BigBeat/chemicalbeats: was mainly made by prodigy
and chemicalbrothers because they were tirede of
techno, and wanted to make something that people
could dance to witch wasent 4OnTheFloor rythmes.
The result of this was a very aggressive breakbeat
style. The breaks are fast, dirty, short, and
marked at the start with a cymbale or other drum
instruments. These breaks are accompanied by
voices of people shoting or singing, and dirty
303 sounds, noisy bass sounds and funny blips or
other synth sounds.

-Dub: Is the electronic sister of reggae, and is
therefor slow and has a sound who indicates that
the musicians have smoked alot of joints before
creating the track. The slow breaked beat is
accompanied by deep bass sounds, classic reggae
instruments and voices of people who are singing
or talking in the characteristic jamaican/american
way.

-Trip-hop: is the slowest kind of breakbeat and
is a fusion between breakbeat, hiphop, film music
and rock. The breakbeats are sampled from old
hiphop records and is often filled with alot of
record noise. On top of this theres a weak and
thin female vocal, witch is accompanied by
orchestra/film themes, scratching hiphop records
and sad organs.
